Introduction
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Debatro, including our website, communities, discussions, messaging features, and any related services (collectively referred to as the “Platform”).
By creating an account or using Debatro, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not access or use the Platform.
These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, moderators and anyone else who accesses Debatro.
About Debatro
Debatro is an online discussion platform where people can create communities, participate in conversations, share opinions, ask questions and exchange ideas across a wide range of topics.
Our goal is to encourage respectful discussion while providing a welcoming environment where people can engage with others safely and responsibly.
Although we encourage open discussion, participation on Debatro is a privilege rather than a right. To help maintain a positive community, all users are expected to follow these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use Debatro.
By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement.
If we reasonably believe that an account belongs to someone under the age of 16, we may suspend or permanently remove that account without notice.
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Debatro complies with the laws that apply where you live.
Accounts and Membership
Creating an account allows you to participate in discussions, create communities where available, post content, send messages and use additional features of the Platform.
When registering an account you agree to:
provide accurate and truthful information;
keep your account information up to date;
maintain the security of your password;
not share your account with another person;
notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account unless you can demonstrate that your account was compromised through no fault of your own.
We reserve the right to refuse registration, suspend accounts or permanently terminate accounts where necessary to protect Debatro, its users or the wider community.
Account Security
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.
Do not share your password with anyone or attempt to access another person’s account without permission.
If you suspect your account has been compromised, you should change your password immediately and contact us as soon as possible.
We are not responsible for losses resulting from your failure to protect your account credentials.
Community Guidelines
Our Community Guidelines form an important part of these Terms of Use.
By using Debatro you agree to follow both these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
The Community Guidelines explain the standards of behaviour expected on the Platform and help ensure Debatro remains welcoming, respectful and safe for everyone.
Failure to follow the Community Guidelines may result in moderation action, including warnings, content removal, temporary restrictions, suspension or permanent account termination.
User Content
You retain ownership of any content that you create, post, upload or otherwise submit to Debatro (“Content”).
By submitting Content to the Platform, you confirm that you have the necessary rights or permissions to publish it and that doing so does not infringe the rights of any other person or organisation.
You are solely responsible for the Content you publish and for any consequences arising from it.
You must not publish Content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, fraudulent, abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or that infringes the rights of others.
Content may be visible to other users or, depending on your privacy settings and the area in which it is posted, to the public.
Licence to Use Your Content
To enable Debatro to operate the Platform, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process, display, distribute and make your Content available solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, improving, securing and promoting the Platform.
This licence continues only for as long as your Content remains on the Platform, except where we are legally required to retain certain information or where Content has been shared, quoted, archived or retained as part of ongoing discussions.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your Content to Debatro.
User-Generated Content
Debatro is a platform built around user-generated discussions.
Opinions, statements and views expressed by users belong solely to the individuals who posted them and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of Debatro.
We do not routinely review every post, comment or message before it is published and cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness or reliability of user-generated content.
Users should exercise their own judgement when relying on information shared by others.
Moderation
To help maintain a safe, respectful and welcoming community, Debatro reserves the right to review, moderate, remove, restrict, hide, label or otherwise take action against Content that we reasonably believe:
violates these Terms;
violates our Community Guidelines;
breaches applicable laws or regulations;
infringes the rights of another person;
promotes illegal or harmful activity;
poses a risk to users or the Platform;
is spam, misleading or intended to manipulate the Platform.
Moderation decisions are made using a combination of user reports, automated systems and human review where appropriate.
We are not under any obligation to remove particular Content simply because another user disagrees with it.
Reporting Content
If you believe that Content on Debatro violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines or applicable law, you may report it using the reporting tools provided on the Platform.
We review reports as quickly as reasonably possible and may investigate, remove or restrict Content where appropriate.
Submitting a report does not guarantee that Content will be removed.
Users should not misuse reporting tools to harass others or attempt to silence opinions they simply disagree with.
Repeated misuse of reporting systems may itself result in moderation action.
Appeals
If your Content has been removed or your account has been restricted and you believe this was done in error, you may contact us through our Contact Us page to request a review.
While we will consider genuine appeals fairly, all moderation decisions remain at Debatro’s reasonable discretion.
Repeated or abusive appeals may not receive a response.
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Users may use artificial intelligence tools to assist in creating Content provided that the Content complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
Users remain fully responsible for anything they publish, whether it was created entirely by them or with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
Content that is intentionally deceptive, impersonates another person, or is generated for the purpose of misleading, manipulating or defrauding others may be removed and may result in moderation action.
Acceptable Use
Debatro is intended to encourage respectful discussion, the exchange of ideas, and the building of communities around shared interests.
You agree to use the Platform responsibly, respectfully and in accordance with these Terms, our Community Guidelines and all applicable laws.
You are responsible for your conduct while using Debatro and for any Content you post or share.
We encourage healthy debate and the respectful expression of differing opinions. However, disagreement must never become harassment, intimidation or abuse.
Prohibited Activities
You agree that you will not use Debatro to:
break any applicable law or regulation;
promote, encourage or facilitate illegal activities;
harass, threaten, bully, intimidate or abuse other users;
incite hatred, violence or discrimination against individuals or groups;
impersonate another person, organisation or public figure in a misleading or deceptive manner;
knowingly publish false or misleading information intended to cause harm;
distribute malware, viruses, malicious code or harmful software;
send spam, unsolicited promotions or deceptive advertisements;
scrape, harvest or collect personal information from other users without their consent;
interfere with, disrupt or attempt to compromise the security or operation of the Platform;
attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data;
use automated tools or bots in a way that negatively affects the Platform or other users;
manipulate discussions, votes, rankings or engagement through coordinated or deceptive activity;
evade bans, suspensions or other moderation actions by creating additional accounts or using another person’s account.
Attempting to assist another person in carrying out any of the above activities may also result in enforcement action.
Multiple Accounts
Unless expressly permitted by Debatro, users must not create or use multiple accounts to manipulate discussions, evade moderation, artificially influence voting or engagement, or otherwise gain an unfair advantage.
Having more than one account is not prohibited in itself, but using multiple accounts in a deceptive or abusive manner may result in suspension or permanent removal of all associated accounts.
Spam and Platform Manipulation
Debatro is intended to support genuine discussion.
Users must not artificially manipulate conversations, engagement, rankings or visibility through spam, coordinated behaviour, automated posting or any other deceptive practices.
We may remove spam or manipulative Content without notice and may restrict or permanently suspend accounts involved in such activity.
Impersonation
You must not impersonate another individual, organisation, business or public figure in a way that is likely to mislead others.
Parody, satire and clearly identifiable humorous accounts may be permitted provided they are not intended to deceive users.
Debatro reserves the right to remove accounts or Content that we reasonably believe may cause confusion or misrepresentation.
Illegal and Harmful Content
Users must not publish, share or promote Content that is unlawful or that facilitates illegal activity.
We may remove or restrict access to Content that we reasonably believe is illegal, harmful or poses a risk to users, the Platform or the wider public.
Where appropriate, we may cooperate with law enforcement agencies or other competent authorities where required by law.
Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable and secure Platform, but we do not guarantee that Debatro will always be available or operate without interruption.
From time to time, the Platform may be unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, security measures, technical issues or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any feature or part of the Platform at any time.
Third-Party Services and Links
Debatro may contain links to third-party websites, applications or services for your convenience.
We do not control or endorse third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or privacy practices.
Your use of third-party services is entirely at your own risk and subject to the terms and policies of those third parties.
Advertisements and Sponsored Content
Debatro may display advertisements, sponsored content or promotional material provided by third parties.
The appearance of an advertisement does not constitute an endorsement by Debatro of the advertised product, service or organisation.
Any transactions or interactions between you and an advertiser are solely between you and that third party.
Intellectual Property
Debatro, including its name, branding, logos, software, design, graphics and original content, is protected by intellectual property laws.
Except where expressly permitted, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify or commercially exploit any part of the Platform without our prior written permission.
Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of Debatro’s intellectual property or the intellectual property of other users.
Suspension and Termination
We reserve the right to suspend, restrict or permanently terminate access to Debatro where we reasonably believe that a user has:
violated these Terms or our Community Guidelines;
engaged in unlawful activity;
compromised the security or operation of the Platform;
repeatedly ignored moderation decisions;
used the Platform in a way that may cause harm to other users or Debatro.
Where appropriate, we may issue warnings before taking enforcement action. However, we are not obliged to provide advance notice where immediate action is necessary to protect users, comply with legal obligations, or maintain the security and integrity of the Platform.
Users may stop using Debatro and close their accounts at any time. Account closure does not automatically remove all Content that has already been published, particularly where that Content forms part of ongoing public discussions or where we are legally required to retain certain information.
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us.
Our collection, use and storage of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your use of the Platform.
By using Debatro, you acknowledge that your personal information will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Users should exercise their own judgement before relying on any information published on the Platform.
Limitation of Liability

This includes, but is not limited to:
loss of data;
loss of profits;
business interruption;
reputational damage;
loss resulting from user-generated Content;
interruptions to the availability of the Platform.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful under the laws of England and Wales.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Debatro, its owners, administrators, employees and volunteers against any reasonable claims, losses, liabilities, costs or expenses arising from:
your breach of these Terms;
your misuse of the Platform;
your violation of the rights of another person;
any unlawful Content that you publish.
This obligation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Changes to the Platform
We are continually improving Debatro.
We may introduce new features, modify existing features, suspend parts of the Platform or discontinue services where necessary for operational, security, legal or business reasons.
Where reasonably practicable, we will endeavour to provide notice of significant changes that may materially affect users.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time to reflect changes in the law, improvements to the Platform or changes to our services.
The latest version will always be published on this page together with the date on which it was last updated.
Your continued use of Debatro after updated Terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of those revised Terms.
If you do not agree with any future changes, you should stop using the Platform.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Debatro shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
