Debatro is committed to providing a safe, respectful and responsible online environment for all users. Protecting children and young people from harm is one of our highest priorities, and we have zero tolerance for content or behaviour that exploits, endangers or sexualises children.
This Child Safety Policy explains the measures we take to help protect children, the standards we expect all users to follow, and how we respond to reports of child safety concerns or suspected violations of this Policy.
Debatro is intended for users aged 16 years and over. We do not knowingly permit children under the age of 16 to create accounts or use the Platform. If we become aware that an account has been created by a child under the minimum age requirement, we may suspend or permanently remove the account and take any other action we consider appropriate.
This Child Safety Policy should be read alongside our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy and all other applicable policies that help govern the safe and responsible use of the Platform.
Our Commitment to Child Safety
Debatro is committed to maintaining a Platform where children and young people are protected from harm. We expect every user to contribute to a safe, respectful and lawful online community by acting responsibly and reporting content or behaviour that may place a child at risk.
We do not permit content or behaviour that exploits, abuses, endangers, sexualises or otherwise harms children or young people. This includes any attempt to groom, manipulate, threaten or exploit a child, whether publicly or through private communications.
Our child safety measures apply throughout the Platform, including communities, discussions, comments, private messages, images, videos, audio, documents, user profiles and any other content or features made available on Debatro.
Where we identify or receive reports of content or behaviour that may present a risk to a child, we will investigate promptly and take appropriate action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include removing content, restricting accounts, permanently banning users and, where appropriate, reporting the matter to the relevant law enforcement authorities or child protection organisations.
Prohibited Content and Behaviour
Debatro has zero tolerance for content or behaviour that exploits, abuses, endangers or sexualises children or young people.
The following is strictly prohibited on the Platform, including within communities, discussions, comments, private messages, user profiles and any other features or services provided by Debatro:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content depicting or promoting the sexual exploitation or abuse of children;
- Grooming or attempting to groom a child or young person for any unlawful or inappropriate purpose;
- Using the Platform to exploit, manipulate, threaten, harass or otherwise place a child or young person at risk;
- Encouraging, promoting or facilitating the abuse, exploitation or trafficking of children;
- Sharing, requesting, distributing or attempting to obtain child sexual abuse material or other illegal content involving children;
- Any content or behaviour that endangers the safety, wellbeing or privacy of a child or young person;
- Attempting to circumvent this Policy or assist others in doing so.
Debatro also does not permit pornography or other sexually explicit content. Content that breaches this Policy, our Community Guidelines or our Terms of Use may be removed without notice, and accounts may be suspended or permanently banned where appropriate.
Where we believe that content or behaviour presents an immediate risk of harm or may involve criminal activity, we may take urgent action, including removing content, restricting accounts and reporting the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities or child protection organisations.
Reporting Child Safety Concerns
If you believe that a child or young person may be at risk, or if you encounter content or behaviour that you believe breaches this Child Safety Policy, you should report it to us immediately.
Reports may be submitted using the reporting tools available throughout the Platform or by contacting us through our Contact Us page. Please provide as much relevant information as possible, including links to the content, usernames and any other details that may assist our investigation.
We treat reports relating to the safety of children and young people as a priority and will investigate them as promptly as reasonably practicable. Where appropriate, we may remove content, restrict accounts or take any other action necessary to help protect children and the wider community.
If we believe there is an immediate risk of serious harm or that criminal activity may have occurred, we may preserve relevant information where appropriate and report the matter to the relevant law enforcement authorities or child protection organisations, in accordance with applicable laws.
If you believe that a child or young person is in immediate danger, you should contact your local emergency services or the appropriate law enforcement authority without delay. You should not rely solely on reporting the matter through Debatro where urgent intervention may be required.
Our Response to Child Safety Reports
We encourage all users to use the Platform’s reporting tools whenever they encounter content or behaviour that may breach this Child Safety Policy. Prompt reporting helps us review concerns more quickly and take appropriate action where necessary.
When we receive a report relating to child safety, we will assess the information available and take action that we consider appropriate based on the circumstances of the report.
Depending on the nature of the report, this may include removing content, restricting or suspending accounts, permanently banning users, requesting further information or referring the matter to the appropriate authorities where required or appropriate.
While we aim to investigate all reports promptly, response times may vary depending on the nature, complexity and urgency of the matter. Reports involving the safety of children and young people will be treated as a priority.
To protect the privacy and safety of those involved, we may not be able to disclose the outcome of every investigation or the specific action taken in response to a report.
Parents and Guardians
Although Debatro is intended for users aged 16 years and over, we recognise that parents and guardians may occasionally have concerns relating to the safety of children or young people.
If you believe that a child under the age of 16 has created an account on Debatro, or if you have concerns regarding content or behaviour that may affect the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person, please contact us as soon as possible through our Contact Us page.
We will review all genuine child safety concerns promptly and take appropriate action where necessary in accordance with this Child Safety Policy, our Terms of Use and applicable laws.
We encourage parents and guardians to talk with children and young people about responsible online behaviour, privacy, digital safety and the importance of reporting anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
Changes to This Child Safety Policy
We may update this Child Safety Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Debatro, improvements to our moderation processes, developments in technology or changes in legal or regulatory requirements.
When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date shown at the bottom of this page. Where appropriate, we may also notify users through the Platform or by email.
Your continued use of Debatro after any changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Child Safety Policy.
